People of Our World

People of Our World is the sister charity to Animals of Our World, born in 2025 to meet people where they are and respond to individual needs with compassion, dignity, and action.

We have been inspired by real survivors of the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia, and by our own brain-injured survivor co-founder.

We know real change is possible. So far, this has meant offering safety and shelter to families fleeing war, stepping in with emergency support for critically ill babies, and creating quiet but life-changing moments like giving a child in a rural village a bicycle so they can go to school, reaching a future once out of reach.

Education is a vital part of this work. We provide free education to children who would otherwise be denied it due to poverty and the realities of living in the countryside – sometimes simply because their families cannot afford a school uniform.

In Cambodia, without the opportunity to learn English from a young age, children face deeply limited futures. Many are denied not only professional success, but even the chance to earn enough to provide for their families.

Every act, no matter the size, carries the same purpose: one person standing beside another.

For Animals of Our World, the creation of People of Our World was inevitable. There is only so long you can heal injured, free-roaming animals while witnessing the suffering of the families who care for them.

People of Our World’s vision is deeply tied to the ethics of Animals of Our World: that everyone matters – across borders, circumstances, and even across species.

There was never going to be a right time to begin. Animals of Our World is still growing into the organisation it strives to be, but we believe strongly that these two charities will continue to grow side by side helping the animals and the people of our world, together.
