House of Strays

We are Siem Reap’s only physical sanctuary for rescued animals of all species.

We are a cage-free sanctuary (except in special cases for their own well being) and our animals enjoy free roam of the sanctuary grounds within their special enclosures.

We currently have over 150 animals from 6 species on site – cats, dogs, one cow, four pigs, two ducks, and two lovely chickens!

Get to know our lovely rescues! Every day, these amazing rescued animals need medical treatment, food, shelter, and of course, lots of love. Want to help them out? Click the Donate button at the top right of this page!

Paralysed Paradise

Our Paralysed Paradise area is home to 12 dogs who have been involved in road traffic accidents. Though many of our guests anticipate sadness in seeing these residents, they are pleasantly surprised by the joy of living they experience.

By doing daily physiotherapy and hydrotherapy, we aim to develop the muscles and skills of those dogs who are able to walk again. You will see dogs dotted around the sanctuary who have ‘graduated’ from this area (ask for Brownie and Lady for their full stories) as well as three paralysed cats who live happily with their more able friends.

Sanctuary for farmed animals

House of Strays includes a very special House of Hooves area. In this section we have Mary our cow, Babe, Poppins, Percy and Wilbur our pigs, Mrs. Oats and Mrs. Barley our chickens and Dolly and Donald our ducks.

You can find more about our farm flock and why we rescue them here.

Cats

Cats in Cambodia face unique challenges. And with a high stray population, diseases like FIP and FIV are abundant.

We care for a cats in their specialist enclosures catered to their needs, which often involves strict quarantine areas where we get them back to full health or guarantee a high standard of living despite their limitations.

House of Strays is also home to three paralysed cats, Moby, Star and Fergus, each with their own unique needs and personalities.

Dogs

The majority of our residents are dogs. Overwhelming from the huge stray community, we only take in those who need to be here.

As well as our Paralysed Paradise, our enclosures include a large Garden, a kennel area, Senior and Introvert areas, and a pitbull pad.

Without these unique set ups the dogs would not have their needs met appropriately – likely not surviving the streets.

We are proud of our all Cambodian carer team
