House of Strays

We are Siem Reap’s only physical sanctuary for rescued animals of all species.

We are a cage-free sanctuary and our animals enjoy free roam of the sanctuary grounds within their special enclosures.

We currently have over 150 animals from 6 species on site – cats, dogs, cows, pigs, ducks, and chickens!

Get to know our lovely rescues! Every day, these amazing rescued animals need medical treatment, food, shelter, and of course, lots of love.

Paralysed Paradise

At House of Strays Sanctuary, we are proud to provide a safe and specialised home for dogs living with paralysis through our dedicated enclosure, “Paralysed Paradise.” This unique space is currently home to 13 paralysed dogs, each with their own story of resilience, survival, and hope.

Every one of our dogs has suffered life-changing injuries following road traffic accidents (RTAs). Without specialist support, many would have faced a future of pain, neglect, or euthanasia. Due to their complex needs, these dogs can no longer live independently or safely thrive without ongoing care.

In Paralysed Paradise, we provide individualised, lifelong support tailored to every dog’s condition. This includes mobility assistance, bladder and hygiene care, pain management, enrichment, and emotional wellbeing – ensuring each dog experiences comfort, dignity, and love.

Rehabilitation is at the heart of what we do. Through daily hydrotherapy and physiotherapy, we work tirelessly to help dogs regain strength, mobility, and confidence. For some, recovery means learning to walk again. For others, it means adapting to a happy and fulfilled life with support, and specialist care.

While our goal is always rehabilitation where possible, we are equally committed to offering a permanent, loving home to those who may never walk again.

Dogs have travelled from across Cambodia – including Phnom Penh, Koh Rong, and Battambang – to receive specialist rehabilitation and care at House of Strays Sanctuary. Their journeys may have begun with tragedy, but here, they are met with patience, compassion, and a second chance.

Paralysed Paradise is more than an enclosure – it is a place where disabled dogs are given the opportunity not just to survive, but to truly live.

Sanctuary for farmed animals

Over the years, House of Strays has grown and evolved into House of Hooves – a sanctuary created to give a second chance to animals who would otherwise face certain death.

What began as a safe haven has expanded into a home for some of the world’s most overlooked animals: pigs, cows, chickens, ducks, and many more. These are species often seen only for consumption, yet behind every life is an individual capable of feeling pain, joy, fear, love, and companionship.

At House of Hooves, we believe that every animal deserves the chance to live safely, freely, and with dignity – regardless of their species.

Many of the animals in our care have been rescued from neglect, abandonment, slaughter, or unsafe conditions. Here, they are given what every living being deserves: safety, compassion, medical care, nutritious food, and the freedom to simply be animals.

Our mission goes far beyond rescue. Through our educational sanctuary tours and the House of Hooves Educational Centre, we aim to inspire compassion and challenge perceptions around farmed animals. We want visitors to see these animals for who they truly are – intelligent, emotional beings with unique personalities and a deep desire to live.

By creating meaningful connections between people and animals, we hope to encourage a kinder and more compassionate world.

Every animal has just one life and we believe every life deserves the chance to be live. Click here to find out more.
