Let’s catch up.

This is the heading

Hey, it’s G. The co-founder and one of the main carers at House Of Strays Sanctuary in Siem Reap, Cambodia.

Let’s catch up.

This is the part where I ask how are you, and you ask me back to be polite.

Pffft, you would have wished you never asked!

It’s been a challenging few weeks, to say the least. Multiple deaths. Vet debts increasing. Emergencies.

Just when you think it couldn’t be any harder, rescue loves to prove me wrong.

It’s not all doom and gloom… I have a sanctuary full of rehabilitated rescues that remind me every day why I carry on.

Never in my wildest dreams did I believe rescue would be THIS hard. I’ve been challenged, I’ve been tested. I’ve been through a lot in my 28 years…

Well, rescue has me wrapped around its little finger and pokes me in the eyes just for fun. Life’s hard though right, and nothing good comes easy.

House Of Strays is doing okay..

We’re getting there, the build continues, the rescues are happy. Little do they know what actually goes on behind the scenes to keep the sanctuary surviving…

It’s a lot. Woah, it’s a lot.

It’s crazy. I AM CRAZY.

Oh, you knew that.

The fact is, House Of Strays sanctuary NEEDS stability. Without it, we cannot ensure they have a future FREE from the suffering we once found them in.

Do you want to know what’s crazier than me? My future goals. We haven’t even touched upon them yet.

BALLS

I want to eradicate them, ALL. No, just dog balls for now. (kidding)

Desex – Desex – DESEX

I dream about it! (I’m not joking). Having the capabilities to do what I know needs to be done, but not being able to do it.

It’s frustrating. We do save hundreds of animals by rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming them… but we could be helping thousands upon thousands by focusing heavily on desexing.

There is NOTHING more powerful to me than showing LOVE to somebody who has never experienced that feeling before.

Watching the daily changes and gaining that trust that gives them back their fight and desire to live.

Rehabilitation is my PASSION. But, is it solely the answer?

Absolutely not.

I can’t wait to FINALLY be able to get stuck into de-sexing missions all around Cambodia. We’re not alone with this future mission. There are a few very dedicated rescue organizations in Cambodia that have actually already begun…

We will get there, we will. There will be setbacks and oh boy the hurdles are only going to get higher…

Patience is a virtue, right?

—

Thank you to everybody who shows us the support we desperately need. You have no idea the feeling it gives us when we are notified of your generosity.

Actually, when we receive support on certain very difficult days… you should know that you are the reason we happy ugly cry.

Thank you, always.
